I've considered the idea of starting my own bussiness many times and I read a few book on the subject.

A few of my bussiness ideas included:

On site PC repair.
Video game / PC repair / computer store. (and many variations of this)
A Video game company (lots of skills required - working on them)
Ect.

For the most part, everything seems to boil down to a few things:

Money, Skills in the type of bussiness (and in running a bussiness itself) and Risk taking.

Perhaps others in the Retrogamming Radio community have also, to some degree and are willing to share their ideas, experiance and opinions.

I (and perhaps many others) would like to hear them and have a good discussion about it.

I've actually tried PC repair on a small scale and with mixed results. You ever get thoose computers that no matter what you try, you can't solve their problem? And the customer just doesn't get it?

For ex. There was this one customer that wanted an upgrade. OK, did that no problem. New motherboad, got everything working, the computer worked great. However, they has a MIDI device that wouldn't work no matter what I did. Even reinstalled the OS. After 8 hours of troubleshooting, I concluded that the MIDI device was dead. (and later found out through friends that I was correct). Also the customer was not very knowledgeable about computers - or his own equipment for that matter. Even tried another computer to verify. Point of story, I look bad and customer is unhappy. It wasn't a great experience.

Perhaps it would be better to own a shop or a store and have customers bring computers to you. The real benefit of doing on site is you can do it with a low startup cost.
