I don't even know what this show is about, but thought this was interesting (heard it on the news today) ...
They're going to release Season 3 on DVD, and there is going to be a special 10 minute 'bridging' episode that's going to set up Season 4, which will not be shown on TV. The point? Unless you buy the Season 3 DVD, you won't be up to speed for Season 4. In other words, when you go to buy the DVDs, be sure and bring some vasoline with you, so that hopefully taking it from behind won't feel quite so unpleasent :D
I think in the future, you're going to see a lot more of this, especially when it comes to video games and movie sequels. Eg - if you want to be hip to a major plot point in the sequel, you're going to have to buy the video game!

They pulled some shit like that with 2 Fast 2 Furious. They had a special bridge version that bridged the first and the second together. You could watch the normal cut of 2 Fast 2 Furious but when you watched the bridged version you were more like..oooooh oookay.
It is a scam but gives you incentive to buy the dvd.

The 2 Fast 2 Furious thing is like all the other double dip scenarios. When the sequel came out, they rereleased the original with a 'tricked out' bridge that merged the two films. Here is why it didn't suck... You got the bridge on the DVD of the second movie - and - it wasn't necessary to understand the film. You could, in fact, watch it without it with no harm done.
I let these 'tricked out' editions slide because most of them (recently, Bourne Identity) include a movie ticket to see the new film ($8 value here). So, when you pay $14.99 for the film, you're paying $6 for the flick (at best) and normally there is something heavy on the new disc (new 5.1 mix, anamorphic, etc). For $6, sometimes its worth it to me. This is how I did the Fast & Furious bit.
I tried getting into 24. I like Keifer - but it bored me. Shouldn't they be calling Season 4, "96"? How many 24 hours can you have before changing the name?
I'm afraid with one or two scant selections on cable TV, I have almost exclusively turned to premium channels like Showtime and HBO for smart, entertaining, and uncensored programming.

I'll have to admit that the first few hours on season one were really dull, but once you get past that then it finally begins to really move along for the most part. It is worth at least a Netflix rental, the surprises during the first season are more than worth it. :D
(Still haven't watched season two yet)
