Ok, so Shane and Chris were talking about it in the latest show - what is it, am I missing out on something good?

Meh RSS isnt that great. Its mainly just a feed from this site that has details such as latest episode and a few news bits and stuff. IMO its a waste of time

I'm curious why it is a waste of time? Are people not interested in release notes and times of the show? We have been adding features like MAD to the site. If you aren't visiting the site every day - how else would you know we've added a complete friend code system to the site?

If I'm missing something in the value, I would certainly be interested in what WOULDN'T make it a waste of time.

Well, I think that for us forum dwellers; we do visit the time everyday and are in synch with the latest news.

But I think RSS has a market, so it's a good idea to keep around. Nowadays, websites like this NEED an RSS field if they want to stay in the game.

LOL.

The PAIN..... P A I Nnnnnnnnnn!!!!!

On a side note, look how many times the widget's been downloaded! No relation to how many people actually USE it, but the numbers are there... ;)

At the very least it easier for me to keep track of the many podcasts that I listen to by using RSS (built into Opera, btw).

It's a timesaver.

Well sorry if i offended you Shane by saying its a waste of time. I didnt mean for it to offend any1 its just my personal opinion. I dont really see the point because if your really interested in something such as i am with DSR and RGR then i go to the site like everyday anyway so i dont really see the point in using RSS. My comment was not ment to offend anyone its just my opinion on the matter.

No offense taken .. I'm just trying to make sure we're not wasting time and resources doing things that no one uses, ya know?

I'm with you ... Sites that I follow closely, I flat out visit. But everyone seems to clamor for RSS so ...

Yes, but at some point you discover that your time is more valuable, or limited, and would like to just know when some less popular (or less often) sites that you visit are updated. It just makes it easier on some levels. Your time is valuable, isn't it? You can always go to the site after you see that it's been updated.

It just makes sense, at least to me. :)

Yeah - pretend I don't know what I'm doing. All I see is a load of HTML or something. What do I do?

Or does it not like Firefox?

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Download and install the recommended RSS reader.

When you run it you sign up to various news feeds such as the bbc or indeed DSR.

I only did it a few times but there is a link in the xml text that ends in rss.

Paste that in to the sign up dialog box in the app and you're done.
