Come on guys, be honest all you Nintendudes.
Before I upgrade my GBA to a DS, what battery life are you getting?
I'll mainly be playing GBA titles or my Flash Cart, but I gotta try Yoshi Touch n Go.

Straight up ... I'm getting at least 6 hours ... probably more.
If you're REALLY worried about battery power, get the $10 extra battery/charger (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7267575&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat45400050010&id=1117177721718). For me, in 5 seconds, I'm on another battery. :)
We play forever on a charge ... it should be negligible in your decision. :)

I never have a problem with battery life. I killed in on a trip I recently took, but that was on the plane on the way back never having charged it the entire trip. It's really good, even better if you are playing GBA games due to the use of only one screen.

Thanks for the input.
I gotta look at the extras option too.
Do you have any problems playing in sunlight or have they got any screen problems licked?

Most games you can shut off the backlight. I rarely play in sunlight so ...
Playing in light is actually a drag sometimes but thats rare and only bothered me in a few games so far (Like Castlevania) and I'd rather have the backlight option anyway.

The longest I've played has been 4 hours with no problems. I never tried to fully drain the battery so I can't say how long it will last.

I actually got a car charger too so I can charge during the morning commute. Weak .. the DS has made me a slave.

Sure he is, but he wasn't before (as any long time listener knows)...
That alone should tell you something about the DS :) And you know what, I can't say he's wrong. I think you'll be quite happy with it if you decide to buy one.

I'd say about 6 hours myself, never really have a prob...if I feel that I've played it a lot at any given time, I will just plug into the charger on my nightstand before bed and let it charge over night.

Well, I did it.
I bought a DS.
Now has anyone modded it to take GB and GBC carts?
Shane R. Monroe
10-28-2005, 06:58 AM
No, but there are emulators ... It cannot be hacked to run those games because it physically doesn't have the hardware inside to run those old games. They removed it.

Bummer!
I thought I may be able to open it and remove the tabs that stop the cart sliding in.
I emulate on a flash cart so GB games are no problem, it's just the GBC games are not always compatible unless they had a dual power utility in the original cart.

Don't suppose the GBA wireless is compatible either right?
Shane R. Monroe

Nope ... According to the packaging I saw, it is not compatible.
I guess we gotta keep around the SPs for a little while longer :)

I can't get Goomba to work under XP even in compatibility mode.
Does anyone have any ideas or other conversion tools for my GB/GBC games?
Shane R. Monroe

Goomba seems to work fine here on WinXP SP2.
What's the problem you get?

Thanks, but I sorted it. I'm on SP2 as well btw.
It will only read and write ROMs in the Goomba parent folder.
I was trying to create the GBA ROM on my desktop. I got the created successfully window but nothing actually happened.

Yeah, weird system folders often reak havoc with homebrew stuff.
Glad you got it working.
