This would definitely be very high on my list. I can't argue too much with this choice.

I know... you have told me numerous times over IM that I *need* to play Half Life 2.

Everyone I talk to praises this game highly. Maybe I should finally put some time away to play it.

Dude seriously.. doesn't matter it's "ancient" (released in 2004), it's still an amazing experience.

Half-Life 2 was definitely a surprise. It surprised me because at the time I was pre-inclined to think that any over-hyped game to not be "all that". Sort of an inverse of the sleeper hit. 2004 was a breakthrough year for videogame hype. Doom 3, Halo 2, and Half-Life 2 were making rounds on mainstream outlets. There was a reactionary backlash against these games (which was very prominent on these forums) and Half-Life 2 was caught in the middle. (The drama over the leaked source code didn't help either.) Fortunately, the reason it was hyped and hated had little to do with its quality as a game. It's hard for me to pin down what made it so great. Its not the graphics nor the physics or even the story. I guess from the moment I stepped off that train as Gordon Freemon feeling that 1984 vibe, I got totally immersed.

there are different categories like racing , rpg , adventure and sports .
it is hard to chose among them , there is a favorite game in every category .

The best PC game? That would be Ignition.

So why don't you name one or 2 in each of your categories? Oh wait your just a spammer posting randomly in different categories. (notice the spam in his sig).

Agreed!

Not the best PC game of course (don't be silly now) but an immensely enjoyable one - extremely well done and definitely underrated.

Not quite the same but you might want to check out Reckless Racing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GyDDcTfKIY) on your iPod ...

I finally pinned it down. The game was inspired by Ico.
