The all time top classic 2D platformer Manic Miner, is being remade in 3D!
Normally I wouldn't bother with 2D to 3D conversions but this one seems to work. Its only a one level demo at the moment, but captures the original spirit and is just as difficult. Worth a look...

Next comes Orc Attack. An old C64 game that was damned hard! Well, this version isn't old but its still damned hard!...

Last but not least, comes LightHeart 2005. A Boulderdash type game that starts off difficult and just gets bloody harder!

Enjoy :)

Thanks for the link Shane. I only had the C64 version which wasn't very nice looking! I'll download this remake and check it out with Amiga Forever. :)

Hey! I didn't know about this... I remember listening to this flashback as a bonus on the DVD!
Hopefully this time around there will be an auto-stop on the character's movement... unless that's the way it should be and I'm just stubborn.

That's the way its supposed to be. I played an early build of the new one with it actually stopping and I tell you what ... It takes the spirit out.

The manic miner 3d remake looks good and I can tell a lot of effort was put into it .. but I just don't think it works well in 3d, not in this particular way. At a minimum, there should be a button to switch between 2 distinct camera angles: 1) from behind and slightly above and 2) 100% side view. I wouldn't mind a "replay" mode having any other camera angle though.
It could even be made to work well on the DS: the top screen can use any 3d camera view (3rd person, etc), while the bottom screen allows for more accurate control with a side view.
I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I didn't think it was the right type of "difficult", as it is.

I know what you mean and to a point I agree. This is where all 2D to 3D usually go wrong, you end up with a totally different game. I remember when Lemmings 3D was being developed, I got all excited and worked up, cos Lemmings was/is a fantastic game. When I tried the demo though, it was a complete let down, all the magic had gone!
I feel though, that MM3D still feels like the original but in a confusing way, which I think one would get used to. Your idea of a side veiw or maybe a radar would help with orientation, wouldn't want to play it from that veiw as it would negate the whole point of the 3D convertion. Interesting stuff though. :)
