Here's a tip I learned recently that I thought I'd share.
If you still have your old copy of Diablo 2 floating around and still have your cd-key, you can go to battle.net and enter your cd-key under "redeem game code" and it will associate it with your battle.net account (assuming you have an account, if not, sign up for one). Once you do this, you can put your cd's away and download the client straight from battle.net, which doesn't require you to have the play cd inserted like the regular cd installation does. By the way, the latest version finally supports Windows 7.
This is great for netbook gamers especially due to the lack of an optical drive. You can also do this with the Lords of Destruction expansion pack, Warcraft III and it's expansion, and Starcraft and it's expansion. Unfortunately, Warcraft II (even the battle.net edition) isn't supported hehe.
