How come the DSR shows are so long? their pretty long, usually 1-3 hours, I have only been able to listen to one show since I don't have the time to listen to the rest. Are there any shortened versions of the shows for download as I would like to listen to some but don't have the time to listen to a 3 hour show :(

I don't believe that there are shortened versions of the show. What I do is I put them on during car rides or times I won't be busy. If not that then I split it into parts and listen to them in multiple sessions.

Not to nitpick, but I hear complaints from people about all kinds of podcasts being too long. As long as it's compelling, what's the difference, especially if we're listening to them on electronic devices that automatically bookmark where you left off? Now if you want to criticize a show for being too long because the creators are padding or can't be interesting for all that time, that's one thing, but too much content - as long as it's good - seems to me a crazy criticism. Just my opinion though...

I've never understood the complaint of "a show being too long", much as I've never understood when someone on an netcast says "we're running over" (They're not tied to a specific time slot, they should be able to have a show as long or short as they wish). :) Most MP3 players nowadays can pick up on a show where you left off, or at least easily fast forward to the time you stopped. Just listen to a show whenever you can, and stop it when the need arises. If the show isn't interesting enough to want to listen to it in its entirety, why listen at all?

Good idea, I never thought of splitting the file, I'll have to do that at some point, I wonder if 5 minute files is small enough :)

You must have a good MP3 player, with the ones I use I have to press and hold the FF button and watch the tiny screen till I get to the point I stopped listening, and thats if I even remember the exact time that I stopped listening, which I rarely look at. It is extremely hard to FF to a time when in a car, spending 10 minutes trying to get to 1.35.54 is about the time it takes for me to drive from my house to my local town, sure my car CD player remembers what point I listened to as long as I keep the CD in it, but then again 700mb for a 32mb file thats a waste of a CD which is expensive when your not working, £10 for a pack of 50 CDs could be used to pay for my weekly shopping instead of a CD I'm probably only going to listen to once.

If I pause a Podcast, Movie or Song and turn my Zune off or go play a game with the click of the play button I get sent back to what I was listening/watching. Even if I turn it off, or I can Pause a Podcast or Movie and change it or listen to Music and come back later and it gives me some options (Play from beginning, resume or send.)

I don't know if iPod's do that though.

We've had this 'complaint' before.

I personally like a long podcast (I have a 1 hour commute to and from work each day) but that isn't anything to do with DSR, fact is why the rush? Basically Shane and I say our say and that ends it. It could be worse...There are some podcasts that actually have commercials in them - WTF? If the content is interesting to me I usually want to continue listening to the discussion, and guys who know Shane knows he isn't about padding. :::snickers:::

How do you not have time to listen? That's a new one for me...Doesn't makes sense either since we are back to a monthly schedule at the moment and you are telling me that you can't listen to a 2 hour podcast within an entire month?? hehe.

Most MP3 players nowadays if you simply pause then put it in sleep mode will resume out of sleep.

I don't know what to say but this is simply how we've done the show, what can I say, we're a couple of women.

Really, with Chris and Shane I have no problem that they go on for hours. It's a great show to listen to because there is alot of meat to it. I do alot of driving and I listen to the show in chunks.

You need to look in your players' settings and see if they have a setting for auto resume. Most do these days. And if you don't, you really need a better player :) Hell, if you're in the US, I think I have an old 256MB iRiver player that I'll snail mail you for free if you want, just PM me.

And, although I've said it before a hundred times in other threads, I'll say it again here too. The iAudio players (at least the older ones) support bookmarking, such that you can bookmark your place, listen to some music, then come back and continue where you left off.

In regard to not having enough time, do you not drive, work out, clean your house, etc? Basically anytime your mind is free but your hands aren't is a great time to listen :)

easier said then do lol. I rarely go out on a drive that lasts more then 30 minutes and most of my drives are with my dad who always turns my car stereo off :(

I've had a look at winamp and have noticed it has bookmarks but for some reason when I click to load the bookmark it loads the song from the start instead of where I left it off. My phone has a alright MP3 player which allows me to put it in the background and then switch to it and continue listening where I stopped, if only my car stereo had a line in :(

My other MP3 player has gone missing, although its not that good since it looks like a USB flash card. I don't use sleep mode on my PCs as it still uses quite abit of power while in sleep mode, I wonder how it works on the DSi.

The only time I have 1-2 hours when I could maybe listen to the shows is while I'm playing on xbox 360, I would listen to it while playing DS but it won't allow playing and music at same time which really sucks. Other then that I spen most of the day in the living room with my mum watching the countless films or talking to friends online.

I always split it up into 15 minute files, just makes it easier for me. Show can never be to long as far as I am concerned.

I split my stern shows into 10 minute chunks to make it easier to get back where I was (no bookmarks on my car stereo)

Love the show. You are exactly right, if the speakers are interesting then length is not a problem. I'm waiting for the big DS Dragon's Lair breaking story. :)

One of the great advantages of Rockbox on the Sansa--accelerated scanning! Fast and you can configure the acceleration.

Glad they finally got the Rhapsody version working. I installed it last weekend and it's been great. I can even play "Bejeweled" or "Minesweeper" WHILE I listen. Awesome.

I am waiting for the Dragon's Lair story too.

I also agree with loving the longer shows. A month wait is long enough, and that is only if the show is on time. Now if we can get that Wii Minute Radio back on the schedule I will be set. :)
