In between all of the food and football this Thanksgiving, don't forget to dedicate some time to your favorite retro game. Heck, try a old game you have never played before - maybe something with a Thanksgiving theme like the "classic" Eggomania (http://www.atariguide.com/4/452.htm) for the Atari 2600 (I'm sure all of you Kaboom! fans out there will get a kick out of this one. :) )
Everybody have a safe and happy Thanksgiving! :D

I agree... Not a big football fan, but I'll EAT and play games! Hopefully I won't get any calls from work :) (I hate being on-call).

Maybe if NASCAR was on, I'd watch that. I'm one of those sick bastards who watches auto racing only for the crashes. Other than that, watching cars drive in a circle is boring.

I've been playing the DS this weekend. Not very retro but fun nonetheless.

Wow, that's even later than *I* thought.
I'm guessing it WILL be released on time in June or whenever is advantageous against PS3 (either a bit before, or a bit after).
Frankly - as long as they get it right and don't botch the launch *cough 360 cough* I don't care if it takes until November. I want to TRIP over the pile of EXCELLENT first party launch titles and quality third party titles the day it ships.

Wanted to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving. There is plenty to be thankful for. Family, Friends and everything else.
Here's President Abraham Lincoln's Thanksgiving Proclamation.
By the President of the United States of America.
A Proclamation.
The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God. In the midst of a civil war of unequaled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign States to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere except in the theatre of military conflict; while that theatre has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union. Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the fields of peaceful industry to the national defence, have not arrested the plough, the shuttle or the ship; the axe has enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore. Population has steadily increased, notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege and the battle-field; and the country, rejoicing in the consiousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom. No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy. It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American People. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquillity and Union.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the United States to be affixed.
Done at the City of Washington, this Third day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the Independence of the Unites States the Eighty-eighth.
By the President: Abraham Lincoln

Happy Thanksgiving.
So, my wife and I are discussing something. She says that people in the US have Thanksgiving dinner in the afternoon (at around 3:00 PM). I say that it's later, at around 7:00 or 8:00 PM.
What is it?

It's true, most people in the US have Thanksgiving early in the afternoon. My family usually leans a little more toward the 6pm time frame, but when I was a kid my parents always did it in the evening as is more of a custom among latinos it seems.
Similar to the whole Christmas thing, where hispanics have Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve in the evening instead of in the afternoon on Christmas day like most people in the US.

Yeah, back at home in Mexico we have Christmas dinner... at around 11:00 PM! That's because we go to the 9:00 PM catholic mass, and in between the greetings at church, coming back home and sitting at the table; it's never before that time.
Gifts are at around 12:30 AM that night then at around 3:00 AM we go to bed, so we can wake up at around noon the next day.
On the 25th, we also feast, at around 2:00 PM. We eat leftovers from the night before but there's brand new food too.
Good times.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
Sad, but so far the highlight has been watching The Macy's Parade and seeing the float with "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" get Rick rolled. They actually interrupted their song and the man himself came out of the float and did a half-assed lip sync of his song.
It occurred to me that the typical audience for the Macy's Parade has no idea who he is or what Rick Rolling is.
Anyway, have a good day.

I'll be heating that peanut oil in an hour and half... I injected the turkey with 32 OZ of garlic herb goodness last night, so it's been marinating all night long... I should be eating around 6 or so. Was watching the Lions game, but the score before the half was out of control, so I switched to some Animal Crossing with my daughter... Hopefully the next game is a little better.

Yeah, I would say it is very common to have it early, and in fact we usually always have it around 3:00. Here are some cool facts about Thanksgiving:

Haha, I thought that was classic, except for the fact that my wife had no idea what was going on, even though I have probably explained what the rick-roll is a number of times.

Yeah, I had to explain it to my wife too. That's when it occurred to me that she's one of the more in-touch viewers of the parade. The five-year-olds are all wondering what happened to the cute song the puppets were singing. "Who's this old guy? And why doesn't his mouth move like the music?"

I'm wondering if we should start a thread to show off our Leftover T-day contraptions. :)Well, for us it was a whole 16lb turkey for just my wife and me, so we still have 3/4 of the bird left.
We cut it in pieces, wrapped them in aluminum and froze them inside a ziploc bag. Because we marinated it for over 8 hours, it will remain juicy for the next 6 months. Not that it will last that long mind you, it's so incredibly tasty we'll probably eat it all within the next week :).

Its usually served around 2 or 3PM. This allows sufficient time to get in at least 1 or 2 family arguments, gorge yourself, digest, and escape from the relatives with enough daylight to make it back home for a leftover sandwich and falling asleep in your favorite chair while watching another game or a classic movie. ;)

We have no family here in the US, so we always spend Thanksgiving on our own here, the four of us. Last time we had so much turkey left we got sick of it.
This year, my wife watched Giada on the Food Network prepare a few recipes for a small, personal Thanksgiving dinner. So she decided that for tonight, she would prepare the three dishes from that episode, "Flavors Of Fall (http://www.foodnetwork.com/giada-at-home/flavors-of-fall/index.html)".
Bibb and Arugula Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/bibb-and-arugula-salad-with-raspberry-vinaigrette-recipe/index.html)
Spiced Apple-Walnut Cake with Cream Cheese Icing (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/spiced-apple-walnut-cake-with-cream-cheese-icing-recipe/index.html)
Turkey and Pancetta Pot Pies (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/turkey-and-pancetta-pot-pies-recipe/index.html)
Since it's only us, it's gonna be an evening dinner. Happening in a few hours. I can smell this already... can't wait!

Well, I actually cooked Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey turned out perfect, stuffing was the best I ever made, gravy was fantastic, and my dad's sweet corn made everything perfect. Thanks to my dad for telling me the perfect way to make a turkey moist is to, "stuff half an onion up it's ass". I even did the yams and apple crumb pie to perfection. I got lots of "delicious, it was great, best I ever ate" but no thank you. Oh well, what did I expect. FML
I hope everyone's turkey day was good. :)

Besides, this Thanksgiving it was pouring outside, how can you fry it that way?
