Question about the XBL marketplace

I'm trying to purchase 800 points from the marketplace but it seems the only options are these "packages". I just want 800 points. No more, no less. Please don't tell me I will be forced to pay more than I have to.

Smallest point card is for 1600 points, If you buy points from the dashboard, they do have some odd increments... Don't remember seeing 800 points as an option.

Trying to purchase them online. The lowest package is 500 points ($6.25). I don't know what to say. So if I want to buy Super Street Fighter 2 Hyper Turbo HD megamix (whatever its called) and have only the 1100, I will have to pay $6.25 for 100 POINTS! Get serious. I never understood the point system and why we couldn't just use money and now I do. I thought the online system M$ created was rotten to the core and designed to rip off and this proves it.

Go to Zune.net, and sign in with the same email and password you use for Xbox live. Go to "My Account", then "Buy points". You can buy in these denominations:

400 Microsoft® Points: Zune™ Price: $5.00
1200 Microsoft® Points: Zune™ Price: $15.00
2000 Microsoft® Points: Zune™ Price: $25.00
4000 Microsoft® Points: Zune™ Price: $50.00

I know it's ridiculous but between the Zune site and the Xbox Dashboard, you can buy enough points to make it to the magic number you need.

And before you call MS corrupt, Nintendo is even worse. Nintendo's lowest denomination is $10.00 for 1000 points.

Thanks Chairo. Two 400 point purchases will give me the exact points I need. The 1200 point package also means that I can get SF2 for $15 (the asking price) instead of $18 (though I may just wait to get it on PSN since getting a PS3 is now a top priority).

Nintendo plays the same dirty pool so don't just pin this on Microsoft.

I have 200 Wii points rotting in my Wii right now for over a year now that I can't use unless I purchase more point cards. Sorry, no dice Nintendo. So now Nintendo basically made an extra $2 off me, it's the principle that counts.

If Microsoft would allow us to 'gift' over points then that would at least help the matter since I'd of been more than happy to have helped you out.

The point system is completely corrupt. No two ways about it. At least in Nintendo's defense, it's $1 per point. The goofy sh!t that MS uses just adds MORE confusion to the fire.

I personally guarentee there is a special task force in both the MS and Ninty camps that figured out the exact increments necessary to screw us all over.

PS3 apparently got that right - of course, the flip side is - you don't get to TRY the game usually - you just have to buy it and hope it's good.

Nah, on the flip side even more though is that at least MS's points even out during the purchasing process. 90% of the XBLA game titles are 400 and 800 pts a piece so when you get a 1600 or 4000 pt card you are less likely to have an odd number of balance remaining.

Now you go over to Nintendo and you have $4 NES, $6 TG-16, $8 SNES coupled in with $10 N64 which you buy with $10 and $20 cards...You are really F'ed over.

It is why I have have 200 points decomposing on the Wii and times in the past where I will have a balance of zero...point...zero on my 360.

Neither of them have an excuse. You should be able to CHOOSE the number of points you wish to purchase and they should be required by LAW to add this. I'm surprised they are allowed to do this. Its crazy.

Nintendo's isn't as annoying since those games have been unofficially in the public domain for a number of years and they don't even have extra features like online play.

I agree with almost everyone completely.

First off, Microsoft's 400 points = five dollars makes no sense. I mean, I guess it does, but why does Microsoft thinks it can create its own currency?

Second, I was delighted to see Nintendo do something reasonable: 100 points = 1 dollar. So its like cents. But wait, to buy a 4 dollar game, you have to spend 10 dollars first? Lame.
Same thing goes for XBL points. Interesting point about buying zune points though. I am intrigued.
