Any ideas on an easy way to put a bunch (350+) 30 second clips onto a DVD? The software I've tried chokes with that many filenames...

Have you tried Nerovision Express? DVDLab?

There may be an INHERENT limit on the number of titles an IFO can handle - which is why nothing supports it.

If all else fails, group them by similarity (if possible) so that you get a number of groups less than the max allowed by the IFO (might be 255) .. then use CHAPTER breaks with chapter JUMPS to get to the right video.

You might ALSO be able to trick the system by using MENUS (with no buttons and a 30 second time out) with animated 'backgrounds' containing the video clip. The user wouldn't know the difference and you might be able to milk 255 of those along with 255 'actual' movie clips. The MENU and TITLE and ROOT buttons might work a little differently, but overall, I think that would work.
