What is the worst shareware game you've ever played?

My vote for the worst shareware game would have to go to Tibo Software's Wolf3D clone called Bad Toys 3D.

This game looks like it was made by a pre-schooler. The all the graphics look like they were drawn on paper with a marker and scanned in. Ugly, ugly, ugly! And the sound effects are just as bad as the graphics. Even the free Chex Quest was better than this.

worste free shareware game, hmmmmm. I would suggest a game that wants as much for a full retail game, and is totally not worth it. Shareware is had it now days anyway, free games on the internet and shockwave killed it practically, unless they come up with something orig then gets cracked by a hacker and posted all over the internet.

Actually I think it's kind of the reverse and there is a revival of indie (shareware) gaming quietly happening. Games like BreakQuest practically eclipse EA's entire yearly lineup in terms of fun and quality. While in the past it was quite rare for shareware to truly surpass big publishers' products. Indie shareware titles are now even being offered via Xbox Live.

Irrelevant, for the most part. People who look to indie games in the first place do so because they want companies like EA to die. Supporting the developers of shareware titles is naturally part of that cycle.

Even if people didn't crack 'em, buying games from places like GameHouse, Pop Cap, Big Fish, etc., isn't going to put EA out of business.

My point was, getting cracked shouldn't overly hurt indie sales, since the true target audience of indie games are idealists who won't touch the cracked version anyway, it will only be obtained by warez collectors.

Er... no!

I know a few friends whom buy shareware, they last thing on there minds is "HAHAHA! I'm really screwing over the big companys with this one!". No the little shareware they buy they buy because they think that it deserves the asking price and a retail product.

Plus, while some of the games are fun, like Rolling Marbles, Shape Shifter, Rocket Mania, and Mummy Maze, most of the stuff is nothing but clones of Break Out and Tetris/Columns style games which are not worth buying, let alone cracking.

ok sorry shane, we wernt talking about the offending "words" as such in a wanting way rather in a passive way. But the last piece of shareware i bought did and has had those things done to it. If the shareware is popular enough it will happen, if the boys and girls have the heart to pay up though thats a diffrent story.

Hey, I was just saying some of the stuff is not worth buying and not worth stealing. Bad Toys 3D is such a game like that it's so bad.

If I could travel back to the age of 16.
Open Mortal would be a dream come true.
Reguardless of the true play factor.
