It ****ing blows. It's never for the better unless you suck and have sucky taste. I don't know, maybe somewhere a crappy easy listening station changed to metal. That would be awesome.
One of my favorite rock stations that's the only one that stays clear 100% of my commute turned to hip-hop and reggae. That's the worst.
I'd like to know how this happens. Bastages don't even give a heads up.
I give it a  out of 10.

No, it's not. Try this - a rock station in Houston (101 KLOL) went Tejano
Thank God for satellite radio.

Because right now, hip hop is the 'flavor of the day' and that is what makes advertisers happy.

Radio stations here change formats every other day it seems. It's so bad, I saw a commercial on TV last night for a local radio station that's changing back to a format it had a couple of "format-changes" back!

One station I used to listen to changed from playing high energy euro dance & hot mixes to all talk format.
But I don't listen to the radio at all today. Nothing but crap. And the same few songs played over and over.
Thank goodness for MP3s.

This is my story.
On the 1st of February, Monterrey's oldest radio station which for 34 years aired the best of american and brittish pop & rock music changed its format to Tejano
That was the only radio station left that only aired music in english. Like we don't have enough f*ing tejano stations in the quadrant. I am stuill enraged...

Tejano, is that like Spanish music?

Well, Tejano is definitely Spanish. They have about two (or maybe three) VERY monotonous beats, with a damn accordian in the background. That's really all it is ... every song sounds the same as the last one. Next to some of the Cajun **** they play in Louisana, it is probably the worst 'genre' of music in existence. Hell, I think even yoddling is more pleasent to listen to than Tejano.
My wife listens to that techno-dance crap- it just went Tejano last week. A classic rock station for 20 or 25 years, one with a history in the DFW area went to an adult contemporary without DJs.
Luckily, I've dodged format changes- the last couple of years, my commute is just under an hour each way. I've got less than a year with Stern. :(

Radio shows without DJs are the best. Especially the morning shows. Morning shows suck. Take the Eric & Kathy show on The Mix here in Chicago, they totally suck ass. Yapping about crap nobody cares about. I once sent them a nasty email telling them that dead air on the radio was more entertaining to listen to then them. Thank goodness I no longer have to listen to them. Where I worked, the radio was always set to their show in the morning. A co-worker loved listening to those fools.

If you want to "feast" your eyes and ears at some of the most popular Tejano bands...
Intocable (Untouchable): http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/artist/glance/-/48329/002-0777503-9513646
Pesado (Heavy): http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/artist/glance/-/112129/002-0777503-9513646
El Poder Del Norte (The Power Of The North): http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/artist/glance/-/48513/002-0777503-9513646
Actually, the band Pesado is not Tejano per sé, but a variation called "Norteño"... they are all crap anyway... I'm Mexican, but I hate that genre.

For the hell of it, I decided to check out the web site of a radio station I used to listen to some time ago that played 80's & 90's hits. They change to R&B love songs.
Sucks that there are no stations left in chicago that play 80's stuff. But hey, that's what MP3s are for.

Listened to the "Sports Junkies" every morning on the way to work. One morning at 5:45 I heard Spanish announcers and Spanish music. The radio station was taken over and not a word about it before it happened. Sucks the bit one!!!!!
Gunna check into satellite radio.
